Create a Survey Question: Design a question that offers seven distinct answer choices. Choose a topic that interests you. Here are a few examples to inspire your question:
- What is your favorite type of music?
- Which of the following seven movies do you like most?
- What is your favorite type of food?

3. Survey 50 People: Ask your survey question to 50 individuals, these can include friends, classmates, coworkers, or family members. You may also use social media platforms to gather responses more efficiently. Record how many times each option is selected, and complete the provided chart with your tallied results. A Google Form is a helpful resource tool you can use to easily collect and organize your survey responses.
4. Visualize the Data: Create two visual representations of your results using a bar graph and a pie chart.
5. Analyze Your Results: Reflect on your visualizations. Which graph do you feel more effectively communicates the data, and why? Explain your reasoning clearly.
Part 2: Research and Compare Existing Data
1. Choose a Research Topic: Select a topic that allows you to compare two distinct data sets. Create a clear and concise research statement that defines your focus. Some example topics include:
- Comparing wins vs. losses of your favorite sports team over the past 15 years.
- Comparing album sales of your favorite artist vs. their competition over the last decade.
2. Gather Data: Find a reliable source that supports your chosen topic. (No personal data)
- Collect at least 10 data points for each of the two options for your analysis.
- Be sure to include your resource link.
3. Graph the Data: Create a line graph to represent your findings.
- Place time on the x-axis (e.g., years, months)
- Plot your data points on the y-axis (e.g., wins, sales figures)
4. Analyze Your Results: Summarize any interesting patterns, comparisons, or insights you found from your graphs.
