Research Project Development
Journal Entry
Progress
Over the past week, I’ve made notable progress in understanding the course content, especially in relation to developing a strong and focused research question. I’ve continued reviewing scholarly sources and refining my understanding of how to evaluate them critically. Discussions and assignments have helped clarify how to identify gaps in the literature, which is important for building a compelling final project. I’ve also started outlining my paper and organizing key concepts using mind-mapping strategies.
Problems
Despite the progress, I’ve encountered a few challenges. The most significant obstacle has been narrowing down my research question to make it specific enough for the final project. I started with a broad interest area, but I’m struggling to find a balance between narrowing the scope and maintaining enough material to support a full argument. Additionally, managing time between assignments and research has been a bit overwhelming, especially when trying to keep up with all the required readings while formulating a research strategy.
Plans
Looking ahead to the next week, my primary goal is to finalize a clear and focused research question and begin drafting the introduction and methodology sections. I plan to schedule time each day to read, write, and revise parts of my outline to avoid last-minute pressure. Another challenge I aim to address is making sure I choose sources that are current, credible, and directly relevant.
