Project Baseline Planning
Creating the Project Scope and WBS
The project begins with developing a clear scope document in Microsoft Word. This document should align with the authority granted in the project charter. It must describe the project purpose and outline the needed improvements for the logistics operation. Next, the scope should list all major deliverables that guide problem resolution. This step ensures transparency and shared understanding. After this, you must summarize the change control process. This process protects the project from unnecessary alterations and keeps progress stable.
After completing the scope, you will transition to creating the Work Breakdown Structure. You will use Project Libre to design an indented WBS with five to ten intermediate tasks. Each intermediate task should include two to three subtasks. This structure improves clarity and supports accurate scheduling. After completing the WBS, save the file in Project Libre.

Project Baseline Planning
Building the Schedule and Budget
Once the WBS is complete, you will develop the project schedule in Project Libre. The schedule should begin on February 1st of Year 0. To create accuracy, you must identify all precursor activities and sequence them correctly. This chart provides a visual representation of project timing.
You may complete the budget in Project Libre or Excel. The budget should reflect labor, materials, and any required resources. This final step connects scope, schedule, and cost, ensuring project control and accountability.
