Evaluation Plan
The evaluation plan for my Assignment 3 proposal is guided by the CDC Framework for Program Evaluation. The proposed program is a community-based mentorship initiative for at-risk youth. A mixed-methods, quasi-experimental design was chosen to measure outcomes and understand participant experiences. Random assignment was avoided because it was not ethical or feasible for this setting. Instead, a matched comparison group will be used to provide credible evidence of impact.
The plan will unfold in three phases. First, during planning, a logic model will be developed, and baseline data will be gathered. This will include academic performance, behavioral records, and self-reported resilience. Next, the implementation phase will include process evaluation to ensure fidelity and track engagement. Finally, an outcome phase will measure post-program changes and compare them to the matched group. Qualitative interviews will be conducted to provide context to the numbers. Throughout the process, findings will be shared regularly with stakeholders to promote continuous improvement.
Lessons from Juvenile Drug Court Evaluation
Important lessons were taken from past juvenile drug court evaluations. These evaluations showed that short-term changes do not always lead to long-term success. As a result, both immediate and follow-up data will be collected. Another lesson was the value of stakeholder engagement. When participants and staff were actively involved, higher-quality data and better program adherence were achieved.
Implementation fidelity was also shown to be critical. Past studies revealed that outcomes were weakened when the original model was not followed. Because of this, ongoing monitoring will be emphasized in my plan.
