Reflection on Healthcare Policy and Delivery Systems
This Healthcare Policy and Delivery Systems course has significantly deepened my understanding of how healthcare policy influences patient care, access, and outcomes. I now recognize that policy decisions are central to determining which populations receive care, how quickly, and under what financial circumstances. One policy issue that has affected my area of practice is Medicaid expansion. In states where expansion was not adopted, patients face greater barriers to preventive services and chronic disease management (Bailey et al., 2017). This creates disparities in health outcomes that nurses must address daily.
