The class discussions and case studies made me realize how values-driven leadership creates a ripple effect in organizations and communities. Another memorable activity was the group project that required critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. These experiences helped me better understand the connection between theory and practice, and how to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.
New Knowledge and Skills Acquired
During the course, I gained a stronger understanding of systems thinking, communication strategies, and tools for stakeholder engagement. I also learned how to assess the needs of diverse populations and design culturally competent interventions. Additionally, my writing and research skills improved significantly through weekly assignments. These new competencies are vital for anyone aiming to drive meaningful change in professional environments or community settings.
Becoming a Positive Change Agent
This course taught me how to lead with empathy, use data to guide decision-making, and stay informed about social issues. These skills will help me be an advocate for underrepresented groups and contribute to policies or programs that promote equity. I now feel more confident in my ability to influence change, whether in healthcare, education, or nonprofit settings.
Challenges Faced and Lessons Learned
A major challenge was managing time between course assignments and personal responsibilities. I overcame this by setting a strict schedule and prioritizing tasks. I also reached out for support when needed, which taught me the importance of collaboration and self-care. These lessons will continue to guide me in future academic and professional settings.
