Your research question addressing racial bias in healthcare and its impact on Black maternal outcomes is very powerful. As Gilliam et al. (2024) noted, systemic racism and implicit bias are major contributors to these disparities. This personal insight strengthens the relevance of your research and demonstrates why qualitative inquiry can capture women’s voices effectively. In-depth interviews, as you suggested, would give a platform for Black mothers to describe their treatment, anxieties, and barriers to care. These firsthand accounts could uncover hidden factors often missed by purely quantitative data.
