Week 2 Paragraph Outline Template 2025
Introductory paragraph (wri(tten) as a complete paragraph):
1. Begin with a sentence introducing the title and author of the essa(y) you are interpreting.
2. Write a 4-5 sentence summary of the essa(y) you selected.
3. End your introductory paragraph with your thesis statement from the Week proposal worksheet (Author’s last name, brief essa(y) topic, effective/not effective, three rhetorical modes, main idea of essa(y).)
Body paragraph detailing the first rhetorical mode (writ(ten) in outline form):
1. Open with a topic sentence introducing first rhetorical mode from thesis statement.
2. Define the rhetorical mode that you identified.
3. Provide evidence from the essa(y) that illustrates rhetorical mode being used (use a signal phrase and an APA in-text citation).
4. Explain how/why essa(y) evidence illustrates the first rhetorical mode.
Body paragraph detailing the second rhetorical mode (writ(ten) in outline form):
1. Start with a topic sentence introducing second rhetorical mode from thesis statement.
2. Define the rhetorical mode that you identified.
